Worlds in Color 3/30-4/3/26 CAMP
Arts Programming 8:45am-5pm for kids aged 6-11 years old
What are we exploring?
Together, we will dream in color and discover exciting ways to use it to express ourselves and connect with others. Think: vivid paintings, expressive color movement, symbolic storytelling, and a celebration of how different colors shape the worlds inside and around us. "Color Self-Portraits": Campers create expressive portraits using colors instead of realism. What color feels like your energy today? What colors show how you think, move, or dream? Use paint or collage materials. "Rainbow Moves": Movement session exploring how colors move: Red = strong and fiery Blue = flowing and cool Yellow = bright and bouncy Purple = mysterious and swirling Group up by chosen color and build a short group dance or pose inspired by that color’s mood. "Color Story Circle": Kiddos choose a favorite color and tell a short story where that color plays a starring role (e.g., a brave yellow star, a lonely green planet, a bold red river). "Prism Play & Reflections": Explore real prisms and sunlight (or flashlight) to discover how light bends and breaks into rainbows. Kids use mirrors, clear beads, or CDs to experiment with reflection and refraction. Follow-up art prompt: Paint or draw what your own “inner prism” would look like if your feelings or ideas turned into light. How are we like prisms—holding many colors inside? Arts Assembly provides a creative and active space for kids to explore the arts on days that A2 public schools are out. Kids spend the day playfully exploring movement, theater, music and the visual arts. We love collaborative exploration, problem solving, and innovative solutions inspired by creativity. Led by U-M Professors in the Performing Arts, local teachers and artists, Arts Assembly is your downtown arts resource for the whole family.
Cancellation Policy
Arts Assembly A2 programming is non-refundable, though it is transferable for 60 days should your plans change.
