What are we exploring?
Explore scale and perspective through imaginative worlds—what happens when tiny things become huge, or big things become small? Think: whimsical visual contrasts, dramatic scale shifts in movement, and unexpected role reversals in storytelling. "Mini & Mega Art": Create two pieces—one tiny and detailed (e.g., micro-illustration), one enormous and bold (e.g., mural). "Movement Magnified": Explore how small movements can have big impact—or how to move like something enormous but gentle. "Stories from the Underside": Create and act out tales told from the point of view of ants, raindrops, or blades of grass—or a mountain, a cloud, or a whale! "Perspective Puppets": Build puppets in different sizes and act out scenes where scale causes surprises or comedy. Arts Assembly provides a creative and active space for kids to explore the arts on days that A2 public schools are out. Kids spend the day playfully exploring movement, theater, music and the visual arts. We love collaborative exploration, problem solving, and innovative solutions inspired by creativity. Led by U-M Professors in the Performing Arts, local teachers and artists, Arts Assembly is your downtown arts resource for the whole family.
